Global Import Agent is an FSVP Agent, which is a mandatory service for those food or dietary supplement manufacturers without a physical presence in the United States. Why is an FSVP Agent needed?

The introduction of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) has turned food safety compliance requirements on its head for exporters of food to the U.S.

As stated by the US FDA:

"All FDA-regulated products imported into the United States are required to meet the same laws and regulations as domestic goods. Imported foods must be pure, wholesome, safe to eat and produced under sanitary conditions and must contain informative and truthful labelling in English."

As a result, all international food, including dietary supplements, facilities must now re-register with the FDA every two years at the end of even numbered years. Food meets the new FSMA Preventive Controls for Human and Animal Food legislation and the new FSMA Produce Safety Rule's requirements. Dietary supplements must meet the requirements of cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) as a minimum.

Global Import Agent works with a network of multilingual PCQIs (Preventive Control Qualified Individuals) who are all FSMA experts. They can provide exporters outside the US and importers in the USA with guidance and support in their native language to ensure that FSMA requirements are met, ensuring that your product enters the US market without costly delay and detention for non compliance.
