Why This Event is Important

The FDA's FSVP (Foreign Supplier Verification Program) is now legally mandated for almost all food import and food manufacturing businesses.

This new law is complex and poorly understood and has resulted in many food importers and manufacturers implementing what they believe to be a compliant solution.

The problem is that many food importers and manufacturers are simply not complying as they do not understand what is required of them. Others are waiting until the FDA comes knocking, hoping to deal with the problem later. This approach could lead to serious problems, as the FDA will increase the level of enforcement over time. FDA mandates that the US importer, or consignee, is legally responsible and there are potentially harsh penalties for non compliance.

    Get the low down on FSMA and FSVP from a supply chain compliance professional who spent 12 years running compliance for one of the USA's largest grocers. This eye opening presentation will help you understand the reality on the ground, with respect to FDA enforcement activities. Learn why FSMA is needed, who is exempt, the definition of Importer according to the FDA and find out what the top five mistakes companies make for FSVP and how to avoid them.

    9:45 am - 10:30 am - Practical Steps for Compliance - Ketki Mehta of Ketki International

    Ketki Mehta is the Founder, and Consultant, of Ketki International LLC. She brings the wide-ranging experience of 18 years in the food industry to handle FDA regulatory and compliance issues. She has served and trained may small and big size companies internationally and has interacted with the FDA and other international regulatory bodies. Ketki completed her Master of Laws in Food and Agriculture Law from Vermont Law School and is an FSPCA lead instructor for FSMA preventive controls and Foreign supplier verification program. Ketki will present a no holds barred explanation of what you  need, and do not need, to do in order to comply with FSVP.

    James Flynn is CTO and Founder of Primority Ltd. He is also a food safety systems expert with more than 25 years experience in implementing food safety compliance and management systems. James will present 3iVerify and show how it is used by more than 40 US food importers to stay legal, with respect to the FDA FSVP rule. He will also share how blockchain is changing the game and how affordable the 3iVerify solution is and demonstrate how it can actually save companies money.
